Latest status on reliability engineering and technology

In line with our promise to ensure safer and sustainable energy related processes, KMS energy consultancy is since 2010, a member of the NEN ISO SIL platform. This SIL platform is an independent group of experienced users of the SIL-philosophy according to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. In line with that membership we have attended last months’ NEN/SHELL seminar on International standardization in the reliability technology and cost area.

This seminar at the Delft office of NEN, learned us that the use and quantification of the human factor, in both ISO /TR 12489 and IEC 61508-6, is more harmonized. The importance of this development is that, for instance, SIL calculations in which the human factor is taken into account, can be now be interpreted regardless of the used standard.
